Mike was able to work many different assignments, which included canine handler and trainer and SWAT as an operator, explosive breacher and tactical canine handler. He worked for several years on a federal task force targeting gangs, drugs and organized crime.
While assigned as a canine handler, Mike and his Police Service Dog (PSD) competed in numerous trials and competitions. Bringing numerous trophies back to his agency. Mike and his PSD were able to take many criminals off the streets and seized numerous quantities of illegal narcotics. Mike trained and deployed the first “SWAT” designated canine for his department’s team. He has also assisted law enforcement agencies with the stand-up of canine units, helping to develop policy and procedures, training programs and handler selection.
Mike has trained canine handlers from all over the world to include federal, state and local law enforcement and military units from several different countries. This has allowed Mike to see many different approaches and training styles that have helped to shape the way Mike teaches.
